For electronic mail in a non-windowing session, the command-oriented programm
elm is commonly used. Elm is usually configured to automatically
activate an editor, which is usually vi or emacs and you can
change it in your .login file using the form 'setenv EDITOR <editor name>'.
In a windowing environment the MailTool is recommended, but elm
and pine are available too. The electronic mail can also be handled
using Netscape Mail or IMP.
To read mail in a non-windowing session, type for example 'elm'.
