ABSTRACT. Ultrasonic nondestructive evaluation (NDE)
of inhomogeneous physical properties of nonlinear materials is possible by
extraction of extended information from the ultrasonic wave propagation measurement
data. The nonlinear elastic material with weak inhomogeneity is considered.
Two waves are excited simultaneously on the opposite parallel boundaries of
the material. The analytical description of propagation, reflection and interaction
of two waves is presented. The oscillations on the boundaries of the material
are analysed and the dependence of oscillation parameters on the properties
of the material are clarified. The NDE problem is solved on the basis of
nonlinear effects of boundary oscillation. The numerical experiments are
implemented.
