Objective of the Project

Designing and setting up quality assurance system for Estonian higher education in computing related fields. (The project is planned for two years.)

The aim of the project is to set up quality assessment system for computing related fields in Estonia, elaborate its running principles and minimal level degree descriptions for informatics field.

The system is expected to consist of several components:

Specification of goals, conditions and ways to achieve them. That could be minimal level degree/qualifications descriptions - what knowledge and skills should be taught/trained to students, what teaching techniques are suggested to be used to achieve the defined knowledge, etc. At the level of particular subject, speciality (for example, in informatics) it is a standard of the education in the field.
Methodology how to compare actual teaching content and level at different higher schools between each other and against the standards defined.
Typical quality assessment mechanisms including solutions to overcome discovered shortcomings and weaknesses. It might include feedback from firms and companies, and even from students, about their understanding and expectations to higher education, how to improve qualification and professional skills of university teachers and scientists themselves, suggestions for planning the education, requirements for infrastructure and management.
